Despite suffering just two league defeats all season (W11, D4, L2), Chelsea sit in fourth-place in the Premier League (PL) – a whole eight points off leaders Liverpool. Both defeats came away from Stamford Bridge, and only Liverpool and Manchester City have bettered Chelsea’s return of 21 points from home matches.
The key to Chelsea’s success this season has been their ability to strike first against their opponents. They have scored the opening goal in 13 of their 17 league matches this term, while also leading at half-time in a clear majority (11) of them.
