The 22nd round of this Premier League (PL) season signs off with action from the Etihad Stadium, as Manchester City entertain Wolves after a ferocious start to 2019.
The champions have already scored five goals or more in a home match three times here in the league, and (if including cup results) netting a monstrous 16 goals across their last two home outings.
Still very much in the title chase, City have been brutally efficient in their PL home matches so far (W10, L1), scoring 3.37 goals per game on average. They’ve scored the first goal in all home matches, and have been in front at half-time on eight occasions (72.7%).
The visitors enter the round in the top half despite being average of late (W2, D1, L2). They are unbeaten in three away matches against teams currently in the top six of the PL (W1, D2), and held City to a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture. That said, they have not kept a clean sheet in six straight PL away games.
Nevertheless, just eight PL matches involving Wolves have been decided by a margin of two goals or more this season, and the team rank lowest in the league for matches producing over 2.5 goals, with just 29% of them seeing three goals or more in total.
Players to watch: Rested in both of City’s cup matches for January, Sergio Agüero has scored in two straight PL rounds. Raúl Jiménez meanwhile, has six goals and four assists in the league so far.
Stat attack: City have scored two goals or more in 16 of 17 home matches in all competitions this season.
Six straight City PL home matches have seen both teams score.
Wolves’ last seven PL away matches have produced 4.6 yellow cards on average.
