The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has announced a list of 23 players to be brought in by Under-18 Malaysian (B-18) head coach Brad Maloney to compete in the AFC B-19 Championship qualifying race in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Of the 23 announced players, Brad Maloney brought 12 players from the Mokhtar Dahari Academy (AMD). It has surpassed two players compared to the AFF B-18 Cup squad last August.
Among the names from AMD listed are Luqman Judge, Muhamad Umar Hakeem Suhar Redzuan, Ahmad Zikri Mohd Khalili, Firdaus Kaironnisam, Sikh Izhan Nazrel, and a few others.
The remaining 11 players are from various teams competing in domestic tournaments such as Mukhairi Ajmal, Aidil Azuan, Firdaus Irman (PKNP FC), Muslihuddin Atiq, Muhammad Azam Azmi (Terengganu FC), Mohd Aiman Afif (Kedah) and several others.
Clearly, it is a solid mix of Brad Maloney among the players of the national academy as well as those who have experience playing at the top of national football.
The Malaysian B-18 squad selected in Group G will open this qualifying campaign against their host Cambodia B-18 on 2 November.
Subsequently, followed by the Brunei B-18, Northern Mariana Islands B-18, and Thailand B-18 respectively on the 6th, 8th and 10th of November respectively. All of these matches will take place at the National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh.
