Just two wins in their last five Premier League (PL) matches (W2, D2, L1) marks Liverpool’s worst run of form this season, and has seen the ‘Reds’ forfeit a five-point lead at the top within a fortnight. A win against Bournemouth here is a must then, and considering Liverpool remain unbeaten at Anfield this PL campaign (W10, D2), home fans should still have plenty of confidence.
However, Liverpool have conceded in three consecutive games here – the first time that’s happened this season – with the five goals conceded across those matches accounting for 71.43% of the goals Liverpool have let in at Anfield this league campaign.
Luckily for the title-chasers, Bournemouth are currently embroiled in a seven-game PL losing streak on the road – their worst-ever in England’s top flight. Failure to get any sort of result here will also see the ‘Cherries’ set a new club record for consecutive winless away games in the division.
Perhaps unsurprisingly then, only one side has conceded more away goals than Bournemouth’s 27 (2.25 on average per match) this league season. While even more worrying for the visitors is the fact that they’ve conceded in both halves in 50% of their PL away fixtures so far.
Players to watch: Sadio Mané has now scored in three consecutive PL games for only the second time in his Liverpool career.
Three goals in his last three league outings – including a brace against Chelsea – has Bournemouth’sJoshua King on eight PL goals so far.
Stat attack: Liverpool have scored within the first 30 minutes in four of their last five PL home matches.
Bournemouth have conceded a goal within the first 20 minutes in six of their last seven PL away games.
There’s been over 3.5 goals in four of the last five H2Hs.
