So today is the day match between KEDAH VS TAI PO FC as a qualification match before AFC champion league 2020, semi-final. If win this game, there is another one game to Kedah or Tai PO FC need to battle.
Today is a big day for Kedah as they kickstart their 2020 season properly with the AFC Champions League (ACL) playoff match against Hong Kong’s Wofoo Tai Po FC at Darul Aman Stadium.
The prize is final playoff match against firm favorites South Korea’s FC Seoul in a week’s time on 28 January where the winner will take their place in the group stages of Asia’s most elite club competition.
Having already played several seasons in Malaysia from then MISC-MIFA to PKNS FC, Kpah Sherman has seen how Malaysian teams are and in Kedah, he’s seeing something rather unique to him.
“This is my first season with Kedah. What I can see is here there’s a big unity, which isn’t often seen in other teams. We have a good team and a good character, so we will fight definitely to do great things for Kedah.
“Even though in football you cannot underestimate your opponent but I’m very confident in the team and the coaching staff. Even the fans, we need everybody to fight with the team. Hopefully we can win.
“Football as a whole is pressure but you don’t need to have it in your mind. Last year I had a good season and this year the Kedah fans expect more from me. I can only work hard and do my work.
“I started a few games with (Tchetche) Kipre in pre-season. We understanding each other. But it’s not just him but also with other players,” said Sherman in the pre-match press conference on Monday.
With Shakir Hamzah serving a sustained ban period, the Singaporean center half isn’t listed in Kedah’s squad for the ACL this season and that made an easy decision for head coach Aidil Sharin.
While the Super League allows five foreigners to be used in any match, the ACL only allows four. That means Sherman, Kipre, Renan Alves and Amin Nazari go through into the squad list.
And it is upfront where all the focus will be to see how last season’s Super League top scorer Sherman will link up with former Terengganu FC hitman, Kipre. A definite tricky double-threat for Tai Po to deal with.

Kedah has also held 10 friendly or pre-season matches including the under-21 silver, with the Kelantan side, and several teams from the Cambodian leagues such as Visakha FC, Nagaworld FC, Boeung Ket FC, Angkor Tiger FC, and Phnom Penh Crown FC. They should have won the RSN Cup as a result of their pre-season match. The pre-season is very important for the team and coach aidil shahrin, where they will try to match the players, get a solid line and line, and try out the tactical secret recipe. And don’t forget to get a different player rotation. Of course, they should not have great squad depth, but this weakness seems to have been overcome by coach aidil.
Based on our findings on Tai Po FC, we find that Tai Po FC is currently experiencing difficulties in which nearly half of the players who won the league title last season have migrated to other teams, including their former striker Igor Sartori and Coaches coach the year Lee Chi-Kin. This is most likely because they get better salary offers from other clubs such as Eastern, Kitchee, and R&F. Unfortunately for Tai Po FC when their sponsorship reduces the annual budget most likely after learning that players and coaches have moved on to other teams. Tai Po FC is currently ranked 6th in the league and is very difficult to win.
It is hoped that with this massive supply of troops, and the turmoil that engulfs the enemy forces, it will bring the high flying red eagle to Asia. Just pray for us.
