Not registering a single shot on target, Fulham failed to follow up on their impressive midweek home victory against Brighton as they went down 2-0 to Crystal Palace in a toothless manner at Selhurst Park last weekend. It’s now four defeats in five Premier League (PL) matches, notably conceding two or more goals in all five of those matches.
It’s the same old problems for Fulham, their tally of 55 goals conceded is comfortably the worst in the PL. The worry for manager Claudio Ranieri is it could and should be so much worse, with the goalkeeper being a busy man. Only Burnley have kept out more shots on their goal this season than Fulham (94 goalkeeper saves). It’s therefore unsurprising that they have lost by a margin of 2+ goals on 13 occasions already this season.
Manchester United continue to march on under Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Victory at Leicester made it ten undefeated for the ‘Red Devils’ (W9, D1). Whilst all the accolades have been for United’s attack, credit must be given to their much improved defence. Only Burnley have managed to score more than 1.5 match goals against United in any of Solskjær’s ten games.
United are undefeated in 11 competitive matches against Fulham (W9, D2). Furthermore, United have scored 3+ goals in six of those ten meetings.
Players to watch: Aleksandar Mitrović netted twice in Fulham’s last home game, he now has an impressive ten PL goals this season.
Marcus Rashford has six goals in Solskjær’s eight PL games, including the winner last time out against Leicester.
Stat attack: Fulham have conceded 27.27% of their goals after the 75th minute.
United have scored in each of their last 13 PL away matches.
There have been over 3.5 match goals in six of the previous eight H2H competitive meetings.
