Brazil and Argentina renew one of the fiercest international rivalries in football when they meet for the 111th time in a friendly international in Riyadh. Whilst Brazil leads the overall H2H (W46, D27, L37 – 90 mins), Argentina hholdsthe edge in the 33 games played on neutral territory (W15, D6, L12 – 90 mins).
Failure to win here will see Brazil extend their winless streak (D3, L1) to five, a feat not seen since 2012/13. Each of their last four took place on neutral territory and means that the ‘Seleção’ are now winless in their last five such games.
Still, it’s just one defeat now for Brazil in 20 games overall (W13, D6 – 90 mins), with Brazil shutting out the opposition in 13 of those. In fact, 11 of the last 16 H2Hs have seen just one, or no side score, including the last four.
Argentina enters this fixture amid a run of five games without defeat (W3, D2), but having lost four in just over a year, including twice to Brazil. The last three of those losses saw them go down by a multi-goal margin, as have eight of their last ten defeats overall.
When Argentina does win it’s also normally clear cut, with 13 of their last 17 victories seeing them win despite a -1 handicap. Twelve of those 17 wins saw them keep a clean sheet.
Players to watch: All three of Casemiro’s goals for Brazil have come in 2019, the last two of which came in score draws. [Read more…] about Brazil vs Argentina friendly 16.11.2019
