Ecuador vs Japan Copa America 25.6.2019

Two sides yet to register a victory in this year’s Copa América (CA) go H2H in the final game of Group C as Ecuador (FIFA rank: #60) face Japan (#28). Both sides can still qualify through the third-placed rankings so there’s still a big incentive to win.

The rankings usually ring true as far as Ecuador is concerned, as they have registered just four victories in all games since the start of 2018 (W4, D3, L5), three of which were against lower-ranked sides than themselves. Moreover, Ecuador is yet to win in five matches against higher-ranked opposition in 2019 (D1, L4).

Chile vs Uruguay Copa America 25.6.2019

Only a loss for Chile will see them finish second, with the reigning Copa América (CA) holders winning both prior group games in this year’s edition. Both games saw Chile win the second half ‘to-nil’, handing them a first ‘perfect’ two-game start to a CA tournament since 2001.

Despite this, there is still room for defensive improvement, with six of Chile’s last seven outings seeing both teams score. The last three games of the six in that category saw the first two match goals equally shared, and Chile started sluggishly in all of that trio, conceding exactly once in the opening half-hour.

Uruguay has been hugely entertaining for the neutrals, with each of their prior group games in this CA tournament seeing exactly four-match goals either way.
