It’s the final of the inaugural Airmarine Cup 2019 and it is Singapore who have won the rights to challenge World No. 90 Oman in the showdown to be held at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur. 

The Lions defeated hosts Malaysia 1-0 in the tournament opener courtesy of a solitary goal coming from the boots of Faris Ramli while Oman thrashed Afghanistan 5-0 in their fixture to make a statement of intent.

The final will also be of huge importance for the coaches of the two sides — Nazri Nasir has been given caretaker responsibility of the Singapore national team having served as Fandi Ahmad’s assistant previously, while Erwin Koeman took charge of as the new Oman head coach less than one week before the tournament start.

The Airmarine Cup 2019 hosts Malaysia will now face Afghanistan to secure the third place in this year’s edition of the ongoing tournament. 

Malaysia lost their semi-final match against Singapore after conceding one goal. Despite the goal being scored quite late in the game, they failed to counter any of their opponents’ attack throughout the game.

Their opponents, Afghanistan suffered a brutal loss 0-5 loss against Oman and bid adieu to their hopes of playing in the final. Now, both the teams will look to secure the third place and will bring their best to the game scheduled for today on 4:30 pm.

Considering the performance of both the teams in their semi-final matches, Malaysia looks to be a stronger side ahead of their impending encounter against Afghanistan. It will be interesting to see how the latter will cope up with their humiliating loss in the last game and get in the right mindset ahead of tomorrow’s game.
